The future of Mankind.

I don't care.
Icelander is so cold.
You know why I don't care? Because the Tao doesn't care. Future generations and their fate have nothing to do with me whatsoever. It's totally unimportant unless I'm subjectively attached to a certain belief about myself; that I'm important and that humanity is important.
It's all unimportant. At least for those of us who use Tao as a guide.

this is sort of the ultimate leap away from ingrained nature. that's not to say other animals actually care about future generations, but they are sure set on making sure there are future generations
then again, maybe offspring truly are just a(n unwanted) side effect of sex
however, if you don't care about the future of humanity, it doesn't make much sense that you would want to make way for its continuation

the tao neither cares nor doesn't care. it's fruitless to personify the tao.
the tao is not a guide, it is not a thing. it is fruitless to objectify the tao.

If only persons can care, and the Tao is not a person, then we can safely say that the Tao does not care.
The use of dichotomous opposites in paradoxical fashion to delineate the Tao only works so far, and can't be applied to every verb or phrase one can think of.

There was a time when I realized how small and insignificant we all are. How we are just a tiny blip in the massive energy wave of the universe.
But then I also realized how, in fact, rare we actually are. There are billions and billions of star systems in the universe...meaning there are probably billions of other sentient races out there. But think about the actual percentage of star systems that can actually develop life...and then think about the likely-hood that they will develop sentient life. The odds, in actuality, of a single star system developing life like ours, is incredibly low.
Therefore I like to take the standpoint that we are RARE and PRECIOUS. I honestly have a lot of faith and hope in the fate of humanity. I want our species to prosper. I want us to continue to grow and to solve the mysteries of the universe. If our ancestors hadn't been equally as committed to solving the riddles of existence, we wouldn't even be having this fine conversation right now. We'd still be smacking stones together to make sharp objects for killing dinner. It really is amazing how far we have come as a species. Humanity is totally BADASS in my opinion.
