Drunken Cheff Part 4.

Today the Drunken Cheff strays from his traditional Asian style cooking and goes back to his German roots with Chicken and Dumpling stew...

First I make the broth. Celery, carrot, garlic, onion, salt and pepper with one cut up chicken bones and fat. Saute in a heavy dutch oven pan till brown then add 4 cups chicken broth and boil for 2 hours.


Next I add everything you need in making a good stew. Mushrooms, Carrot, Garlic, Onion, Green beans, Fresh Thyme, Chicken Meat, Half and Half, and anything else you can find in the fridge. Strain the chicken stock youve made and add all fresh ingreedients to the liquid.


Guess Ive reached my upload limit for the day... Its because the Shroomery screwed up and the first time I tried this, when I clicked "submit" it brought me to some weird page with weird stuff on it... I duno what it was..

Bud Ice??  Why not drink water?  :tongue:  You cannot go wrong with those ingredients, well maybe the chicken, but the rest is yummie to my tummy!  :grin:

Those mushrooms look great!
How do you make a stew?  I can make soups, but I've never made a nice thick stew.  Stew sunds damn tasty now that the cold weather is on the way.  Give me a good recipie! :smile:

Time to make the Dumplings... Flour, milk, butter, bakeing powder, eggs and salt. Mix together and roll out, then form into any dumpling shape you want..


Still at my upload limit but this one was in that fancy list of pics already uploaded.. I duno what happened to that 4th pic of the finished product... I will post it tomorrow.

Frog - I like Bud Ice, and at $1.25 a tall can its a staple in my diet now.

Super - Stews are as easy as soup, you just got to thicken them. I saute butter, oil, milk and flour in a pan, then add it and it works great without adding a starchey flavor to the stock. Crock pots are my favorite for making stews.

Anything like this? Chicken and dumpling stew... Cant get much better than this...
