I lifted for the first time in about a year on friday night, and my muscles are still sore and its monday morning. I think it is because right after i lifted i went and got extremely drunk with some buddies. But any who, does anyone recomend anything i can take or suppliments to make this go away?

lol its all of the above cog. for starters you havent lifted in a year, it doesnt matter if youre super healthy, the first couple weeks you WILL be sore, and in the first week, you will be really sore.
the alcohol didnt help the night before.
and supplements might help, but time is your best remedy. lift, burn, soreness, recovery, repeat. in time it will reduce to pleasureable levels.

Research Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). It is very common and most pronounced after a long hiatus from lifting. You will be sore for the first few weeks, but if you stay lifting regularly, it won't be as noticeable. You'll get used to it, and it is nothing to be concerned about. There are some supplements that are supposed to reduce DOMS, but I haven't tried them and they are certainly not necessary.

its just strange cuz i have been an athlete all my life, lifting isn't really new. But i just haven't gotten around to lifting in a year or so (my body was designed to run) and i have never been sore for 3 days! It is getting annoying. I couldn't even wash my hair in the shower very well

Haha, I didn't even see your post. But yeah, lefty pretty much nailed it as well. If you're going to lift, get used to DOMS. It is kinda pleasurable after awhile.

Well if you squat or deadlift any time in the future, be prepared to have an intensely sore ass and difficult time taking a shit.

very normal for the first lift. even if you only took a 3 month break from lifting, you would still be pretty sore the first time.

I had similar problems when i started workin my lower body a few months back. I'd squat/deadlift/lunge/calf raise within an hour, with stretches & the works... but i'd still have extreme pain for the next 5 days. I live on the 2nd floor of my appt building and let's just say the stairs SUCK.
Going down a flight of stairs and catching yourself with a locked-leg can't be good for your knees, lol
