ran out of room in my terrarium
    #9214536 - 11/09/08 09:09 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

i have a couple more trays than i planned on having and no more room in my terrarium. and no humidifier or time to find/ build another chamber. i have to use the bottom space under my tv stand which is not bad but the Rh in my room is 32%. will this work or are they doomed? should i try to raise the humidity in my room by putting a bowl of water on my register? or find a small humidifier:confused:?

if you keep at 32% they are doomed.  Buy a cheap rubbermade that will fit your trays and a 3 dollar bag of perlite.  The bowl of water on the register will not work either, unless your room is about the size of a shoebox. Also if you are in a time pinch, it probably will not hurt to let your trays wait a week, as long  as you don't expose to any fruiting conditions(FAE, light)

Try and get a bin with the same size opening as your tray - and lay it upside down on top of your tray.. It will be a mini dub-tub of sorts, and should hold RH good.. Just put some holes in it w/ polyfill for FAE.

A humidifier will not keep your room at a high enough RH, besides could you imagine trying to sleep in a room with the humidity at near 100%, not to mention what it would do to your electronics.

This got me thinking about seeing pics of digi hygrometers in FC's reading near 100% - and then also reading how shitty digitals are cuz they don't last long, hahah..

I am NOT giving advice here! Just wondering... Couldn't he put them in the refrigerator till he can get the right stuff together?

I think I have read that will work fine, hope your fridge is relatively clean.  I am not speaking from experience though, just what i have read.

could just use a large clear or opaque bag and put them in there with the top tied up some holes poked in the bag for FAE.  Fanning couple times a day. the trays themselves would keep their own RH up.

nevermind i already knew this answer, but how does the coir look? and the mix is thick but it should grow insanely quick.

By the looks of that tray, I don't think you need to be in such a rush.  Maybe 7-10 days for full colonization, then case and wait a few more. That Should give you plenty of time to set up a new fruiting chamber, or at least to figure something out.  Your original post made it sound like the tray was ready to fruit???
