galvanized screw,stir stick?

Will a galvanized screw without all the telflon coatings and such, work?  Just wondering, seems as though it would work but will it give off any weird chemical or should I just coat it??????? :crazy2:

sorry I wanted to know if a galvanized screw will rust or give off unwanted elements in liquid culture solution if used as a stir stick
