Antique pressure cooker
    #9163213 - 10/31/08 07:39 AM (15 years, 4 months ago)

I just got a 4 quart pressure cooker, which is like 50 years old... still working fine though.
I only have this problem, the manual doesn't say how much pressure it gives. It only says the temperature rises to 120 degrees celsius... can you calculate the pressure by that?

120 degrees Celsius = 248 degrees Fahrenheit

Pretty sure that's 10-12 psi

Edit: Per Roadkill 10psi = 240F

Yeah this is a really cool pressure cooker... the pressure valve is the kind you can switch open/closed... is that a "toggle valve"? Sorry I don't know much about PC:s... but I guess it must be good, if it's 50 years old and still works like new!

And it's just big enough for 3 pint jars... I'll be trying grains soon. Maybe I'll post a growlog or something.

good luck - grains are pretty easy. Just make sure you soak well and dry well. My first time out I didn't let them dry enough and ended up with 12 mushy jars

Thanks, I'll be trying popcorn since it seems to be easiest for first time grain experiment. And spawning to coir, of course.
