I dont think there are many people who hunt for these on this site, mainly cube and PNW hunters it seems like

i think most people hunt gyms up in the northern states

i wonder what there full season is

it took several years for people to figure out weilii grew in the spring

Here's what I wrote up on them.My own research and much of it taken from others.

Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata is a powerful hallucinogenic mushroom belonging to the family Strophariaceae. Strophariaceae genera include Hypholoma,Psilocybe,Stropharia,Phaeogalera,Pholiota,Melanotus, and Kuehneromyces. Originally found wild in Pennsylvania,P.ovoideocystidiata has since been reported from Ohio,West Virginia, and New Jersey. Also likely too be found in Kentucky.

cap: 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters wide. Smooth. convex to subumbonate, slippery to tacky. Hygrophanous. Orange-ish/brown to almost brownish/pale yellow. Sometimes a striking green or blue.
gills: Subadnate. Light brown in young becoming cinnamon/purple with age.
annulus: Membraneous and white, disappears quickly with age.
stipe: Light brown. Smooth to scaly. Even. Hollow. Whiteish/brown at the base to reddish/brown at the top.
habitat: Saprobic to rotting hardwood and vegatative debris mixed with sandy soil in the flood plain areas of rivers and streams. Found mainly among Sycamore trees and Japanese knotweed.
bruising: Dark blue/green. Bruising becomes more apparent upon drying.
taste and odor: Mildly bitter. Starchy odor.
season: April through July. Then sporadically until November.
spore print: Cinnamon/purple.

Interesting. Documented in 2003.

I wonder if there are any in Michigan.

Out of curiosity. Do you know of a site where these are more of a topic? Being from P.A., previously devoid of mushrooms, I'm fairly interested in these.

this would probably be the one site where you can actually see discussions on rare species.  That's my favorite part about the shroomery.

the second thing is for some reason where i usually go hunting in pine forests to just look at good places some of the indicators that were there or just any of the other mushrooms are not showing up anymore and then my friends patch thats out in the woods kinda isn't poppin anymore up for the past 2 weeks... would anyone know why this is happening?

No, I love oviods. There all around in PA. I only found one specimen in the fall, and I didn't have my camera at the time so I couldn't get a picture of it. I found a lot in the spring though.

There is a few Mid-Atlantic hunters on this site.

I know Senor is a ovoid hunter when spring comes around. Besides gyms and the very hard to find Blue foot, that's pretty much all we have to hunt

That picture was with a cellphone. In the spring I'm going to take a lot of good pictures so others will have a good shot of finding them. They aren't very strong but their pretty abundant when you find a good patch.

Oh man. I don't know, I ate 9 fresh last year. I had a pretty good body high but that was about it. I don't know the weight. We weighed it out on a digi but I just don't remember now. I just know I ended up having 9

If i ate 9 tiny weilii i would be barking at the moon, those little fuckers are powerful.

fresh weilii are insanely strong

i dont know why i thought ovoids were very strong, they look it but i guess looks can be deceiving.

i would like to hear others comments on these, not that i dont take your word for it im just curious

mushrooms affect everybody differently

we ate the ovoids...we had 10 fresh grams... we each ate 5 grams and we got a nice body high for about 3 hours ...it was funny lol...but we left the "pluteus" there after seeing it didn't bruise and DEFINITELY didn't match what I was looking for just in size. after doing some basic research i found that this species seems to most fit Pluteus salicinus, because of the pink in the gills that we found. is this also a psychoactive mushroom? if so i might have to save it for next month haha

Haha. Here's my noob post from a while back. I guess I have switched up a lot of things in my head since then. I take 9 back, for some reason 9 just stuck in my head.

Ovoids in my opinion are as strong as cyans.  A much better trip than cyans in my opinion.  Cyans give me crazy anxiety on the come up, where as ovoids don't and ovoids also seem much more visual.  Just my opinion though.
