Mealy bugs on my san pedro and red spider on my peyote
    #9120215 - 10/23/08 08:42 AM (15 years, 5 months ago)

I just noticed them today.  I'm pretty sure the mealy bugs got transferred from another house plant by accident.

So far i've been picking off the mealy bugs and wiping them with white spirit. I don't know what to do about the ones in the soil though.

The peyote only has a few red bugs on it here and there.  I just squashed them with my finger.  Do red spiders infect the roots?

Do you think I will need to take further action?

Spiders probably shouldn't do anything to it, in fact if they are truly spiders they would help keep other bugs off it if anything, but those mealy bugs got to go.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

You have to change the soil, and discard the infected soil in your trash. Sterilize the container (just pour  lots of boiling water on it), and be sure to clean your cactus roots from mealy fuckers before you replant it.

Not yet. Mealy bugs require drastic measures, it´s not something sold in stores, ready for use, there´s a special recipe. Everything else is pretty much useless.

Moth balls? Gonna try it on my infected cereus.
Despite its heavily infected it still outgrows the sucking of the fuckers. I needed some natural predators like Ladybugs or Leptomastix (I think this is the name).
