About to germinate T. bridgesii - this sound ok?

I've got some Trichocereus bridgesii seeds which I'm going to germinate.
Here's the plan -
Bulk up cactus mix with perlite Fill trays 1 inch deep and moisten throughout Microwave for 10 mins to kill off anything in the soil Place seeds 1 inch apart above soil Heat trays from underneath at a constant 80F (27C) (ambient temperature will sometimes be much lower)
I'm not planning on covering the trays with anything. Is that ok? Lighting will be indirect daylight. I'm going to water them with a mister. How often?
Does that sound ok? I'd like to hear any suggestions.
Thanks

Everything sounds nice, except that I would cover them in order to make a high humidity envoirment, which is necessary for the seedlings.
How often to water it is up to you to figure out, just use your common sense and don´t drown/kill of thirst your seedlings.

I was hoping to avoid spending $$$ on a germinating box. Is fresh-air-exchange required while the trays are covered?

just put some plastic wrap over the top of whatever you are using to germinate the seeds in, you will NEED to do this but you dont have to spend lots of money on fancy propagation chambers.

Yeah, plastic film works wonders, make sure to poke a few holes on it.

ok if the trays are see-through too? I've got some sandwich boxes with lids which might be good.

if you have any clear rubber maid tubs big enough to fit over the trays that works.

how about aluminium foil inside the trays to block out the light?

I use these:
-------------------- Dr says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

You know I thought the seeds would never germ without high humidity, some seeds kbg sent me were mixed, apparently one cactus seed got into the poppies, it germinated. I woke up earlier looked at my poppies and saw a t. terscheckii in the middle, and my jaw just dropped.

Without sterilization, a recycled sun tea jar with moist peat in the bottom, under diffuse light, gave me a high germ rate.

Use a little No Damp, or similar product, to prevent damping off of your fragile little seedlings. The seedlings need to be in a high humidity environment for 6 months or so, then you can start punching a new hole in the plastic film every so often to reduce humidity. The seedlings will slowly acclimatize and you can start providing more light. Good luck.
Oh and I've actually had high germ rates, germinating the seeds between two pieces of moist paper towel (pot seed style).

Thanks for the help, guys. Here's the setup. The computer fan keeps the bottom of the trays around 27C. Each lid has eighteen 1mm holes. Hope that's ok for fresh air and humidity. I'll update when there's progress.

Is this really your first go at this? You seem to have it all running smoothly. How long do you anticipate until maturity? Any plans to graft something atop the cacti?

Technically it's my second go. First time I used 100% cactus food instead of mix. No surprise it quickly rotted and was chucked.
From what I read on here after 2 years it could be big enough to start cutting bits off.
