Anyone here throw knives?
    #9061228 - 10/10/08 11:03 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I've been taking up this hobby for the last three weeks, I'm still not very good but it really is a fun hobby.

This guy with some bad engrish gives the basics very well on the basics of learning how to throw a knife no spin style, I've learned a lot from his tips.

I have a lot of spare time at work to throw knives into boards, it's a luxory, I know, but this thrower makes good points, lots of them.

Does anybody have any good websites to buy throwing knives?  Recommendations?  I've wanted to master that skill for sometime now.

there are tons of techniques.  I would suggest getting some knives and getting to know them.

I started out no-spin throwing using basically this guy's technique, although the technique I developed had more of a slinging action off the fingers.

I use a different technique now, but this one is pretty easy to learn.  It took me about a month before it started to click.

I use hibbin throwing knifes. I found that they have great balance, and they are thick enough to take a beating by a begginer. Hibben's are the best imo. They sell alot of different sizes, and they come in packs of different sizes if you want to play around with that. I like throwing knifes to have no handle to them.

No, and you all cannot order knife throwing ablity off the internet either. Just go practice, thats the only way to learn. I can throw a screw driver into anyones forehead that occupies my living room with me (meaning 15 feet, and it doesnt need to be a sharp.) I learned by getting boxes and pieces of wood and throwing old kitchen knives at them. If you cant throw a screwdriver you wont be able to hit them hard with a throwing knife anyway.

Just keep that wrist locked

You mean I can't just matrix that shit up as a side skill when I'm learning how to fly an apache helicopter?  But in all seriousness I've been practicing about 2 hours a day, it feels very therapeutic, launching sharp objects into old boards.

When I was little (about 6) I'd get my parents pissed off, recored them yelling at me, and then play it back with the volume all the way up.  That really fucking pissed them off, I didn't have that tape recorder for very long.
