Here we go! Rain and cold temps have settled in, and the season has begun! Post all of your PNW actives finds here to share the eye candy with your fellow shroomerites
I got a nice haul in today from my trusty patch, too bad I didn't check it out earlier, so many rotten ones I missed out on! I borrowed a friends camera because I don't have one. Took habitat pics which I know you guys will like. I go to upload them and suddenly, the battery runs out
It's chill, I will post them up tomorrow
Let's see those finds!

They were scarce though, only found 6 or 7 small ones in one of my many areas. The biggest cap was a little bigger than a quarter. I believe if anyone in the south sound has a patch watered on a regular basis they should check it because mine would be flourishing if we had more moisture. Anyway, good luck and welcome PNW Season!

This was probably 2/3 of a single patch I found; I left the rest for someone else, no need to be greedy. Didn't want to ruin my camera in the rain, so I left it at home. Here's the haul:
Just about a pound wet.
Good luck to everyone! The season has begun!

I've noticed that when I go out hunting these days there are little armies of squirrels running and digging around for their acorns and such. We're the only one's with our heads in the dirt zigzagging around like maniacs.

So far I've gone on two hunts for liberty caps this season, once near the oregon coast, once near portland, both times in cow pastures. I had some success on the coast, but none inland. Are they more common on the coast?

I had read your other post and everyone's reply, and i must ask, can you be a 100%? If it where me, i would toss them all. You have no idea how important it is being 100% until it is to late, and if you live to regret not being a 100% you will never make that mistake again. Take it from me, i know. Hope if you do decide to try them that A: they are cyan's, and B: if there not, i hope you are a big guy, lots of body mass.. Peace.

most of them are stuntzii, looks like maybe he has a galerina in the specimens also (little guy with the black stem and tan cap), and a panaeolus foenisecii right up there in the middle. he definitely needs to be careful if hes not able to tell that there are different mushrooms in there.

how far is a few hours? what area/town/county? and cubensis dont grow in california, the only other thing u might find in the pastures would be panaeolus subbalteatus or psilocybe semilanceata. but u would only find them in such little amounts that it would not make it worth your effort.
if your in the pnw, start looking through woodchip beds for stuntzii and cyans, behind horse stables on the piles of poo/hay for subbalteatus, on newly layed lawns and sod for stuntzii and subbalteatus, and your season wont start fully til around december, most likely.
