Actually, if you think about it scientifically, the egg must have come first since proto-chickens must have utilized the egg birthing process. Thus, the first true chicken ever to arise must have hatched from an egg.

Egg was first, unless you believe in Creationism I don't see how a Chicken could magically appear?

Creature X gives birth to creature Y and creature Y gives birth, and due to enough mutations, out comes a chicken.

Unless I am totally wrong, why is this question even asked? I guess because neither Creationism nor Evolution can be proven?

How does one differentiate between a proto-chicken and a chicken? There has to be a continuous line of descent between the two types of organisms, and there is no clear black/white divide. It's more of a matter for fuzzy logic and probability if anything.
