Obama's team believes he can win by a landslide!

Barack Obama's senior aides believe he is on course for a landslide election victory over John McCain and will comfortably exceed most current predictions in the race for the White House.
Their optimism, which is said to be shared by the Democratic candidate himself, is based on information from private polling and on faith in the powerful political organisation he has built in the key swing states.
Obama aides are convinced that he has a strong chance of winning no fewer than nine states won by George W.Bush in the closely contested 2000 election, including former Republican strongholds like North Carolina, Virginia and even Indiana, which have not voted Democrat for a generation.
His campaign staff believe they have a good chance of securing between 330 and 340 votes, and could win up to 364 votes, a landslide on the scale of Bill Clinton's wins

NO fucking way Obama wins in a landslide.

So? What's the point. Shouldn't he have confidence he is going to dominate? If he doesn't he shouldn't be running fo president.

I think he's got a decent shot at ~310 electoral votes... I'd be sursprised if he gets up to 330-340.

Even if McCain gets Nevada, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida (which all currently lean towards Obama), Obama still has 273 electoral votes. McCain really has to turn this thing around soon if he wants to win.

Honestly i have not thought about it, after the Palin pick i thought this race was over.
Some polls have Obama leading by 6-8 points. Bullshit!
I do believe Obama is leading by a few points....And needless to say i am not thrilled that McCain is behind.
But to answer your question "What if Obama does win"?
I'm not very worried that he can do that much damage to our country thanks to internet and talk radio.
For example:
House Republican leadership framed its opposition to the bailout bill as it currently stands, a principal objection focused on the group ACORN, which the e-mail alert called "the scandal-tarnished 'community organizing group'" -- with scare quotes in the original.
They're referring to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a group generally allied with Democrats and derided by the GOP as corrupt, inefficient and a front-group for Democratic efforts on the ground.
In issuing the statement, House leaders are reflecting -- and also feeding -- a reaction to the provision that has exploded in the last day or more. Our colleague Ben Smith says he's gotten more than a dozen anti-ACORN e-mails in just the last few hours. The viral uprising is both organic and institutionally driven. Prominent bloggers have fed the flames and so has the Wall Street Journal editorial page; several of the e-mails sent to Smith reference a House leadership alert on the "ACORN Slush Fund" and others refer to the Journal opinion. On Thursday night, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told The Crypt that his friend Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) opposes the provision.
"The draft bill includes a left-wing giveaway that would force taxpayers to bankroll a slush fund for a discredited ally of the Democratic Party," reads one leadership alert. "At issue is ACORN, an organization fraught with controversy for, among other scandals, its fraudulent voter registration activities on behalf of Democratic candidates. Rather than returning any profits made in the long-term from the economic rescue package, Democrats want to first reward their radical allies at ACORN for their (often illegal) help in getting Democrats elected to office."
In the end, how much of the bailout's potential profits are earmarked for ACORN? "None. Absolutely none. All funds would go to state and local governments," said Steven Adamske, spokesman for Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), the chairman of the Financial Services Committee and a lead negotiator.

Back in the Jimmy Carter days when we had no Internet or talk radio this Acorn Slush fund would have passed with no problem...

It is true. If we had talk radio back then Reagan probably wouldn't have been able to continue to fund groups like the Contras illegally.

At the time, I was expressing that once the novelty wore off, it would be determined that it was a really bad choice. It seems that my impression at the time is becoming more and more validated. Honestly, I don't know how she'll manage a debate with Biden if she makes herself look like an absolute moron on the most pressing issue at the time with a sit-down with Couric.
