MicroMartha Fridge (Pics)

So if any of you read my previous post about the Martha on Roids i was gonna do, you know that I was unable to use that massive fridge. So I downgraded and got a smaller one. A wine cooler to be exact. and I have pics of the setup.
This thing is a dream it keeps a good temp between 75 and 78 and a constant humidity of 91 without the thing even being on to cool. The lighting system is a string of Blue LED christmas lights. This is the 3rd day in the chamber for my casings.
I am also trying an experimental casing outside the chamber. a self contained micro environment
Anyway I'll keep ya all posted with the results of my labor. Lets hope this tek works for me.

I didn't know blue led's were a preferable source of lighting. I always thought fluorescents of some sort had the most efficient output of radiation. Sweet set up, none the less.

It was my impression the ultra violet rays from light is what helped the grow process. Led has minimal UV rays. I can see though the light rope, looks like the myc is breaking through at the points where the lights are most brightest.
Nice experiment. I would like to see the results

Aren't UV rays bad for the mycelium?

I used to use a fluorescent 15 watt light but that did not fit so well into the fridge. Here is a write up on lighting procedures for cubies. http://www.shroomery.org/5131/What-is-the-best-light-source-to-use
I chose blue because shroomies like that spectrum. And I chose LEDS because little to no heat output and mostly water resistant. Oh and also, If I'm gonna be blue, I gotta stay green.
But after this I am going full spectrum lighting. the blue is for an experiment.

Actually to answer Dead's question and clear your misconception. UV is detrimental to the fungus's DNA and you end up seeing a higher mutation rate as the concentration of UV is increased. The mushies just need the light as a sort of guidance. They are phototrophic.
Ray40cal Thanks for the approval of the bad assedness.
Templeton1 I will def have more pics as growth progresses.
And Tripchip, I agree I am probably going to get those lights to replace these. I am doing the blue light as an experiment. after this I am going full spectrum.
Thank you everyone so far for your input.

Are you sure that blue light and blue spectrum are the same thing? Because I have both cool, and warm varieties of compact fluorescents, and the cool variety is in the blue spectrum, but it doesn't necessarily mean blue light.
Just because mushrooms like the blue spectrum, does that mean they would really love light that looks really blue?
I don't know, maybe i don't know what i'm talking about, i'm not a light expert.

OK sorry for not updating recently, been really busy. Well I finally got pins, not porn but it is cute. I will take pics later. Now here's the part that is depressing both of my B+ trays are the ones with pins but both of my PF albino tray show no rhizomorphic growth and look stalled. It is very sad. Hopefully something comes from those trays.
Anyway Again like I said Pics later. Peace peoples

blue leds dont give out the right colour temperature. Its not the colour we are after. Look for a light that gives out daylight (5000k-7000k).
White leds should work fine, like the ones that tripchip linked will perform way better than those blue LED's.
A quick search on colour temperature gave me that blue is 16000K.
I found this link.
http://autolumination.com/colors.htm
Its explains alot about colour temp and LEDS

Picture time sorry it took an extra day. Anyway I feel as if the Fridge was a Failure. As you will see in my pictures after the break my B+ control container outside of the fridge is producing more prolific fruits than that of the B+ inside the fridge.
Oh well, At least my experiment showed that the fridge is not good for me with those blue LEDs, I realized that they are a different blue than the light I used on the control case, naughty me,bad scientific method. Next experiment will be the full spectrum LEDs.
Control Case
Artsy Shots
In the Fridge 1.First Albino Casing (No Pins)
2. B+ Casing (experiment)
3. Still The B+ casing (Pathetic Fruits)
4. Another Albino Tray (Finally showing Hyphal Knots)
My roommate and I will be testing the fruits this weekend.
Oh and the control case makes a good Poor man Tec. That thing cost me like 1 dollar at walmart. It held good humidity and isn't air tight so it allows a little air exchange.
Anyway Ill keep you all updated. Peace and Love.;)

Wicked nice looking set up. Do you think it was the lack of air exchange that resulted in the minimal growth? ....not enough air, too much co2

.....or, and I don't know if you ever turned the fridge on, but, if you had......don't fridge's work by pulling moisture out of the environment? Maybe your trays dried out.....I don't know?????

The fruits were delicious, Two of my friends and I ate all the shrooms this previous weekend, and I am quite happy with the finished product.
For me I didn't notice much visualization, but the body buzz was ridiculous, I felt as if my body didn't exist, and i was a floating consciousness, took 3 grams dry at about 730 and then re-dosed with 2 more grams at 1200, I didn't get to bed till about 5. Also one of my friends who participated brought over the most amazing bud that has ever graced my lungs, on par in highness to Jack Herrer but with the taste of Christmas. The night was very enjoyable for me, nothing over the top, just good times with good friends.
My room mate dose himself with about 1.6 grams dry at the same time as I and he was pretty much gone an hour later, He had a smooth upcome with slight visuals and complete body high. At 12 I thought it would be fun to give him another gram, and so i did, and about 40 minutes later he was completely passed out and entered into another psychedelic dimension, with the most out of this world CEVs and a lot of internal searching. Very good for him, he was able to come the realization that he was satisfied with his life.
Lastly my friend who brought the greenery, said that his visuals behind closed eyelids were out of this world, And that was about it most of the time he was just entertaining himself behind his eyes.
Overall good night.
Oh the Albinos finally decided to pop up their heads , I will take pics tomorrow and post.
