San Pedro Lophophora and aloe
    #8994073 - 09/27/08 03:06 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

Hey everyone!

I am buying some new additions to my entheo collection - a Trichocereus pachanoii (san pedro) 20- 25cm and 5 X 2.5 - 3cm Lophophora Williamsii and a young Aloe plant..

I have a question regards growth rate for San Pedro, is it a slow grower or fast? - apparently if i graft the peyote to some Myrtillocactus Geometrizans they grow faster? Would it be worth me buying the latter as they will arrive without pots, so i need to repot them.

*My profile says I am in Mass, be it known I am in the UK so I am not breaking any laws!

For this bounty I secured a great price;  ~$60.00:headbanger: - I wont be consuming these *for fun* - perhaps next year or maybe never but would make a great trade tool... I have my bounty of shrooms for that purpose

Thanks in advance!

Pedro will grow faster than Myrtle. I would still graft the Peyote to the Myrt though.

they are easy to find but we don't have the vast array of different specimens in europe for some reason...
plants with reasonably pure parentage are hard to find, the ones that we do have over here are often originated from seed grown plants and are frequently hybrids or nothing like what you are expecting.
personally i don't care so much, i like to have diversity within my collection as well as some pure genetics

"pure" is only one seed generation back

just buy wild seeds, and you can get ur own "pure" ones

Hey... I guess my cacti are arriving tomorrow! Yay, I'm gonna give them a day or so to recoup and pot them... I got mix I wanted to know for sure if I should use pebbles in the bottom, then a small layer of potting mix then pebbles again...

Thanks!

just put some pebbles/gravel in the bottom of the pot.
you can put them in soil straight away, but hold off watering for a week incase of any root damage.
actually considering the time of year you should only water them lightly until next spring as they will not be activly growing at this time of year (unless you are using artificial lighting)
