1 - 2) A toxic Amanita, maybe close to A. cokeri 3 - 4) Laetiporus (yum) 5 - 8) Boletus 11 - 12) Amanita, possibly from section Caesareae 13 - 14) Looks a bit like Armillaria, but is the stem getting thicker near the cap? That is really weird and I have never seen a mushroom do that before. 15 - 16) Mycena 17 - 19) Oyster mushrooms 20 - 21) Macrolepiota procera, a good edible 22 - 23) Amanita, probably A. rubescens 24) Amanita, maybe A. cokeri 25 - 26) Amanita, possibly from section Caesareae 27 - 28) Boletus 29 - 31) Cool mushroom, probably Tricholoma 32 - 34) Tylopilus 35) Craterellus 36 - 37) Suillus 38) Likely to be Amanita jacksonii 39) Oyster 40 - 41) Amanita vaginata 42 - 43) Strobilomyces floccopus 44 - 45) Laccaria 47) Reishi

i think 5 and 6 are russulas not boletus? you can barely see the gills on pic 4 if you enlarge the picture. The black trumpets tasted awesome with spaghetti sauce that had cut up spicy sausage in it with some pasta.
What are some of the differences you can use to identify the difference between Strobilomyces floccopus and Strobilomyces confusus?

Yea you are right.

The spores have different ornamentation.
Strobilomyces confusus spores:
Strobilomyces floccopus spores:
Its cool how they cut the spores in half then photographed them under a light microscope. I wonder how they did that. Maybe chopped up a ton of spores with a razor blade and then looked under the scope for one that happened to be split right in half...

are there any visuals clues or is spore print the only real way to tell?
Any tips on how to prepare oysters? What they taste well with?

There are some visual clues but I guess they are unreliable and a microscope is the only way to tell.
Fry your oysters in butter with a little bit of pepper and salt.

for 13-14 i dont still have the specimen but it did get bigger near the gills, it was not like the stem just got bigger though (not a gradual change in thickness). It was more like a circular ring that went around the top of the stem where it touches the gills. Its kind of hard to explain and the pictures are not in focus well enough to see it distinctly.
