A Good idea? Or an early death?
    #8946709 - 09/17/08 09:53 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I'm in SoCal. Fall and Winter are the seasons Ive noticed the most mushrooms.

Pretty much from what Ive read the 2 deadly mushrooms down here that could kill me are in the Amanita family. HOWEVER Amanita are pretty easy to identify. Just stay away from the Bulb sprouted mushrooms that have that Vail between the base and the cap.

Now assuming that i do that, What if I decide to ingest EVERY mushroom that isn't an amanita? Whats the worst that could happen.....honestly.

I spend a night shitting liquid out my ass? Or I discover a new active mushroom in SoCal! OR DISCOVER A NEW TASTEY DINNER!

On a scale from 1-5 rate my chance of survival if i go through with this brilliant plan

Possibly one of the most stupid ideas ever. And I mean ever. We don't know about a lot of species toxicities because we are not stupid enough to test them this way.

Stick to pan subbs, they are everywhere down there.

Ha-ha, I have to admit this gave me a good laugh. Where about in socal are you?

There are more than one or two deadly mushrooms in SoCal.

wow, this is so terrible of an idea it borders on insanity. Theirs many mushrooms whose alkaloids havent even been studied, no one can help you from renal and massive liver failure because you ate a couple galerina autumnalis.

ok, here goes....VERY DANGEROUS
there are other DEADLY species of mush other than the ones in the Amanita genus (i think thats the genus), Galarinas to name one (forgive my spelling). im a n00b to mycology and i dont really know whats in your area, but i do know that.
if you dont have time to study thousands of mushrooms than DONT HUNT.
or do a little research and do like Knifeplay said and stick to subbs and maybe liberty caps.

if not id say youre better off making one of those 'bills to pay' your drug dealers.........:goodluck:

A few of the things that may happen:
- 1-3 days of projectile vomiting
- several days of diarrhea, with/without blood mixed in
- death within 7 days (first a few days of sickness, then you'll be ok for a few days and then you gradually get worse and die if you don't get a liver transplant)
- unnoticed, but permanent reduction of liver functioning, which may only become apparent after you get an almost-fatal alcohol intoxication after drinking three beers. If unnoticed, you'll just die an untimely death and the coroner (if involved) will record something like immediate heart failure or some other educated guess.
Of course, you will greatly increase the chance of a combination of above symptoms if you go ahead and eat every mushroom except for some of the amanitas you find. It will also make it virtually impossible to treat you effectively. Also keep in mind that although the symptoms as described above may seem pretty clinical and 'clean', you will go through absolute hell before finally dying. Many victims of even relatively mild mushroom poisonings have stated after the experience that they would have rather died than sit it out. That they didn't commit suicide was often down to them not being able to undertake *anything* while being stuck with their heads in a porcelain bowl with their hands pressed hard to their abdomens and seemingly endless streams of shit flowing from their assholes.

Of course, if you insist on going through with this, you have all my support in your endeavor. It will solve your problem of the bills to pay in a very definitive manner.

worst advice ever.

number one rule of mushroom hunting is not to eat anything that you are not 100% sure of.
or you are at risk of being dead. or permanently disabled.

A very slow & painful death, with you main organs shitting themselves literally.
If you eat un-identified shrooms you really are dumb....

Well guys thank you.....You have really opened my eyes. To be honest im not THAT big a retard to actually try something like this. However the question has always been in the "What if" portion of my brain and figured it would make for a funny informative thread.

Thx for advice fellas!

I think this is a great thread and the predictions about what would happen are pretty much spot on.
