So many processes!
    #8861032 - 09/01/08 02:53 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

These are all the process that pop up on my Windows Task Manager. Does anyone know what they are? Can I get rid of some of them?

Id figure Firefox, Ipod, Google, I tunes, winamp for sure are unneeded.

there are better sites to post these findings.  Google searching the names of them will tell you exactly what they are.

Looks normal to me.  You might wanna uninstall google toolbar, and just get the firefox google plugin.  The toolbar is just a waste of browser space and resources.  I'm assuming you're using the new and lame AVG 8.  It takes up way too much ram, as you can see (58mb?), so I suggest looking around for a different anti-virus that uses less resources.
Are you on a laptop?

Anyway, you're fine if you've got more than a gig of ram (which is standard now).

Go into msconfig -> start up and disable all the apple, google, itunes and any other obvious application from starting when windows loads. Then reboot.

The new AVG is such a disappointment...it has crashed my machine twice. I got rid of it and am using Avast now...excellent program.

Most of my PC's are still running avg 7.5.  Probably gonna stick to that until updates stop.
Avast is not bad.

You can get rid of mdnsresponder.exe too.  It's part of the Bonjour service that comes with Itunes or Adobe CS3.

Done and done.

I just downloaded AVG today. I'll probably switch to a different anti-virus since it uses so much memory.

Thanks everybody.

Nancy, just disable all the crapware idiots like Apple and Adobe install on your computer without asking you.

I too am sick of every stupid driver/device/software thing running a sepperate process at startup without asking me.
