Hmm, I thought the Beck was half excellent, half boring. After the awesome first few tracks it seemed to lose its way.
As for my choice (so far) there are a lot of contenders, but I'll say Adem's album of covers "Takes" has to be my favourite.

There are a couple of snoozers on there but I think it rounds out nicely with Profanity Prayers and Volcano.
I also liked STS9 - Peaceblaster The Roots - Rising Down and Lil' Wayne - The Carter III ()

Man, I thought Modern Guilt was pretty bad.
Up to this point in 08, I'm voting for The Melvins - Nude With Boots.

Hell yeah I almost forgot about the Black Keys album. That was another highlight for me. It was produced by Dangermouse, as was Beck's Modern Guilt. Definitely check it out.

No, they did Columbus last spring with Yeasayer though. I went to see Yeasayer, didn't have any idea what Man Man sounded like. Ate 1.5g of mushrooms, only really tripped during the time between Yeasayer and Man Man (they took fucking forever), and absolutely HATED Man Man. I thought they were awful. Fun live show, but just downright terrible music. For the longest time I didn't like them, but for some reason I kept listening, and now I really like 'em. I'm considering driving up to Cleveland to check 'em out because love 'em or hate 'em it's a great concert.
Overall I'd probably pick Visiter as the best album of '08, when I read the thread title that popped into my head immediately.
