Random fungi pics leftover from spring
    #8857376 - 08/31/08 07:35 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I took these photos back in May when things were still wet around here. My hard drive crashed shortly thereafter, and I forgot about them completely. But I found them today while looking through my camera, and thought I would share. They are all from May except for the caterpillar, which was taken yesterday.

For those who have forgotten, I'm in the Missouri River valley area of Nebraska. All these pictures were taken within a 100 yards of my home in a large wooded grove.

Also, if anyone knows what that evil spiky vine is in the first picture, and how to get rid of it, I would be most grateful for the information. I have some growing in my day lilly beds and they're starting to take over.

The "spiky vine" appears to be a common briar. They are very common in the southwestern states around river valleys and creeks. Just cut them at the base and they should die.

Nice photos. You got pretty depth of field on that first one.

Happy mushrooming!

Nice caterpillar, I bet that one can sting.

I second the briar ID and also recommend cutting them at the base.

Thanks Alan and SlickWilly, I will try cutting that nasty stuff away at the base.

Nicely done, you seem to have a knack for macro photography! Try slightly more DoF next time, but don't loose those nice and creamy bokeh areas!

You take pictures of mushrooms and stuff.  I didn't know that.  That is cool.
