just forget about that tiny little shroom.. it will not grow or die and u birthing them early will give u a better chance of failing. that one shroom isnt worth it. just let it colonize fully then birth it, take that shroom off and case it.

I'd give it four days and then birth. :2cents:

1 tiny shroom and potential ruination of the entire cake to contams vs. having a fully colonized healthy cake to grow plenty of big shrooms off of...

Wait till it's completely colonized and then birth.

I'm under the impression that pinning happens when certain conditions are met (temperature is the one I had in mind and I believe light also plays a role).  So I would say to double check your temperature and make sure the jars are really well protected from light sources.  Lowered temperatures in conjunction with light are what initiate pinning (correct me if I'm wrong).

Ok here is an update for today, the cat is very confused. Looked over the other jars still waiting to fully colonize. They have pins everywhere as well now. I don't know what he did to trigger pinning, but it's happening on all five of the cakes now. He hates to think he has to let all of them go and continue to wait for full colonization. It makes him sad that all of these little guys may not make it until the cake has it's birthday. He is wondering where he went wrong to cause the pin trigger.

How are you incubating them. Pinning is generally caused by light and temperature change. Make sure to keep the jars dark and warm. Some people like to wrap foil around the jars to keep light out also

Not using an incubator whatsoever. Just put them on the top shelf of a closet the entire time.

Using a closet works fine, but you need to keep the jars completely dark until you are ready to fruit. Light is what triggers pinning. May I suggest you put the jars inside a box inside the closet to help keep out the extra light

Are the jars closer to being done? Anyone problem you have to worry about is the jars stalling and thats generally caused by fucking up the water content when you prepare your substrate

Best of luck to you

I would have birthed them as soon as I saw that pin, but perhaps that is just me. I'd hate to see that pin rot while smashed against the cake, and turn the jar into a blob of green mold.

Take my advice or not. Im explaining why you had pins prior to fruiting n00b. Its a proven fact that lighting induces pinning. I dont think RR would say otherwise
