What are some foods you eat often that not a lot of other people eat?
    #8842985 - 08/28/08 05:22 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

I'm trying to expand my horizons, give me some suggestions.

As for me, I've been eating a lot of quinoa lately.

Ha, my roommate is completely on the quinoa train. You can't talk to him without quinoa coming up these days. I should give it a try.

I've been having açai smoothies a lot..

That stuff is good to eat, but I feel like a horse when I am eating it. (its the smell)

I eat avocados on a daily basis, sliced with salt. I love them.

Cottage cheese is a staple of my diet.

Also, on the INLAND EMPIRE DVD, there is an extra feature in which David Lynch teaches the viewer how to cook quinoa.  I have yet to try it, but it looks really good.

I have goat curry from the Indian place down the street at least once a week.

I'm not sure if most people eat curry, and I'm sure they don't eat goat.

My cat loves raw green beans, Mcdonald's chocolate shakes, and olive juice.

firm tofu--the high protein kind at trader joes is 500 calories of tofu for $1.19.  Chop a slice off, throw it in a frying pan with some sesame oil and rice vinegar, so good.  Can't think of a cheaper way to eat, either.

Vegemite (or bovril, or what have you).

I'm also a cheese freak. Seems most of my friends are squeamish about eating anything other than cheddar, monterey jack, and mozzarella.

I eat tons of firm tofu.

It's cheap as hell, filling, healthy, and goes with anything.

I ate a firm tofu taco while I was posting this thread.  :awesome:

Firm tofu taco.

Elaborate.

Ok, use regular taco seasoning but instead of ground beef you use an equivalent amount of crumbled firm tofu.  Mix in a bit of oil.  Add your refried beans, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa as normal.

Do they sell it crumbled, or do you crumble it yourself?

Crumble after cooking, I assume?

I'm a total tofu noob.  I eat it all the time, but I don't think I've ever cooked it.

For lunch almost every day, I drink a smoothie made from purple kale, rainbow chard, parsley & fruit.

I also love popcorn topped with brewers' yeast & curry powder.

I'm not sure.

Gold kiwi comes to mind.  I can go to town on some golden kiwi.

That and lychee.
