that would be insulation.
made out of fiberglass.
rub it on your face for a good time.

Does it easily harbor contaminants, and could I get around that in any way?

but in all seriousness.
in that top pic, where the insulation is in the top right corner: throw that away. then measure and cut plywood to lay over the rafters so yo have a small workspace you can stand up in.
build a glovebox and a FC. and figure out a way to cool that place down by 10 degrees.
incubating at those temperatures is unnecessarily high, and Fruiting in those temps isn't ideal either.

Thanks for the info. I'm not planning on fruiting there by the way, I'm using it to keep my jars, trays, and monotubs during spawn run.

I could keep it open a bit, that way the temperature would drop to 81-83F

that would be alright, but also remember winter will be here before we know it, and cold nights up there won't do you any favors either.

It's perfect- all you need to do is lay down a plywood floor.
well, and add some sheetrock or decent walls.
and maybe some electrical outlets.
oh yeah- and some filtered air.
and probably an AC unit (and drain).
good to go.

Good advice.
There's too much temperature swing in attics for them to work. You need a more stable temperature, such as in an insulated room indoors. RR
