Why is obama saying he wouldn't raid medical marijuana users? Has that ever happened anyways?
I thought only growers and distributors were being raided?
Seems to me it is just bullshit double talk, similar to bush and iraq/9.11, that is to make people think he wants to stop raids on state-legal operations, when he hasn't said so.
I looked at obama/Biddens site and they brag about trying to get thousands of mor epolice and FBI agents on the streets.... Why?
Screw the cops, they've got enough money it would seem.
I'm still waiting for the candidate in the mainstream that acknowledges it isn't the federal government's problem if people in a state use or buy drugs from within the state.
I'm really sick of this "more police" and "more prisons" with compulsory jail-enforced "treatment" of dubious benifit for everyone.
So is obama going to respect cali law, for example, or not? Anyone know?

> Why is obama saying he wouldn't raid medical marijuana users?
Because he was talking to a medical marijuana patient. Obama tends to say whatever the person he is speaking with wants to hear, as long as they can vote. (Not that McCain is any better, but McCain supporters don't delude themselves into thinking McCain is the next coming of Jesus.)
> dood i thought this team was gonna change this drug war around
The drug war has to be changed from the ground up (state level to federal level). I don't see the feds ever changing their position on drugs (too much lobby money). It is going to take the people getting tired of the federal government ignoring the will of the people at the state level before anything changes. Even then, it is going to take a long time to vote these schmucks out of office. Eventually, we are going to need some kind of personal responsibility amendment in the US Constitution to protect people's right to their body (and property).

Ah yes, found the clip.
Is that guy an idiot or something? (the mm patient)
Why would he waste an opportunity to ask that stupid question. Great, obama isn't prosecuting marijuana users, so what?
With the exception of military and federal enclaves, I see no way anyone is getting charged with pot use anyways by the feds, so what is the deal with this guy?
I wonder if this is more confusion about federalism and how things actually work.
You here propoganda by MM people about arresting patients, but I've NEVER heard of a case where someone was arrested by feds for marijuana use anyways, and it is assuredly on the lowest of the low of reform priorities in this area.
How about: "Obama, will you recognize state law in intrastate medical marijuana use and distribution?"
(ignoring whether the president should ignore federal law, which I could argue he could if he recognizes the commerce clause prevents him or that some other right does- but obama assuredly can't make that argument)
I'm just frustrated when the public discourse is limited by either misconceptions or stupid presuppositions: Feds arrest medical marijuana patients for being such, or we should mandate drug treatment for "drug" offenders, or drug use should be decriminalized but not selling (when it is the illegal sales market which is the most harmful aspect of the illegal trafficking in drugs by far, not the meer use, but the use at great profit over costs which fules the illegal racket)
While I'd welcom obama to clarify his stance on marijuana laws anyways, cuz that's far from clear, we'll see.
Till then we'll continue to see idiocy from the public, like polls where a majority of people say "marijuana users shouldn't go to jail for possesion" but the same poll finds a similar majority say "marijuana use should not be decriminalized"
WTF? (And people want to force these folks to vote....

"But from a policy perspective, it’s a disaster. Biden has sponsored more damaging drug war legislation than any Democrat in Congress. Hate the way federal prosecutors use RICO laws to take aim at drug offenders? Thank Biden. How about the abomination that is federal asset forfeiture laws? Thank Biden. Think federal prosecutors have too much power in drug cases? Thank Biden. Think the title of a “Drug Czar” is sanctimonious and silly? Thank Biden, who helped create the position (and still considers it an accomplishment worth boasting about). Tired of the ridiculous steroids hearings in Congress? Thank Biden, who led the effort to make steroids a Schedule 3 drug, and has been among the blowhardiest of the blowhards when it comes to sports and performance enhancing drugs. Biden voted in favor of using international development aid for drug control (think plan Columbia, plan Afghanistan, and other meddling anti-drug efforts that have only fostered loathing of America, backlash, and unintended consequences). Oh, and he was also the chief sponsor of 2004’s horrendous RAVE Act."

Its funny how the marijuana addicts constantly post their paranoid delusions in the politics forum about how Obama will save them from drug prohibition, when this thread is sitting right here which says it won't happen.
It demonostrates the insidious brain damage that marijuana addiction causes over and over and over again.

i agree, but there is a problem, a movement of such will not succeed without serious cash to forward it. so i say that these parties start mobilizing. there need to be speakers at every university in the country, not only for these big parties but for the small alike.
i dont like obama,
i dont like mccain
i really just want a candidate who is going to make me more optimistic about my future, pass some laws that will keep me safe.
i dont really give a fuck about most of the shit they talk about.
STOP SPENDING MY MONEY ON SHIT I DONT WANT
like war, putting people in jail, and having "illegal imigrant safe zones" like they do in SF
wtf this country is so hypocritical of itself its sick. money is being dumped onto both sides of every battle,

I vote third party purely based on prinicipal. None will ever win. 70% of the populous could vote for one and the electoral college would still vote R or D. If enough people voted for a candidate they truely believed in, and educated themselves about "other" parties it would serve well to make a point. MOST of the third party and minor party or independant candidates want to stop spending on the war, shrink the government, ease up on taxes for the working class, legalize marijuana, insure that american jobs go to americans, etc, etc; its this brainwashing of society to "vote for the lesser of two evils" thats doing all the harm.

Two Delaware residents are giving new meaning to the term "pushing" Obama, according to criminal drug charges filed Thursday. Fifty-two bags of heroin in bags stamped both with letters spelling out OBAMA and an image in the likeness of Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama were confiscated following a routine car stop on Interstate 95 in Upper Chichester, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Arrested were driver Nichelle Prince, 26, and Jacquene Walker, 21. The two were arraigned on drug offenses before Magisterial District Judge David J. Murphy in Aston. Bail was set at 10 percent of $20,000 each. A preliminary hearing is scheduled next week in Magisterial District Judge David Griffin's court in Lower Chichester. According to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest written by Trooper Joseph Thompson, the drugs were en route from Delaware to Chester. Thursday night, authorities in Chester said they had not seen any similar packaging on the street as of yet. "We've seen Jesus, stars, spiders, all kinds of stuff, but not very detailed. They look more like a little kid's rubber stamp," said city Narcotics Capt. Alan Davis. He said the stamp signifies a specific dealer, or a group working together. According to the arrest affidavit, Thompson was on patrol when he saw a northbound while Buick with dark tinted windows. Thompson activated the lights on the marked state police cruiser to initiate a stop around 12:35 p.m. He approached the vehicle and asked the driver to put the windows down because he couldn't see inside. The driver, who put the back window down, identified herself as Prince, but said she did not have her license with her. A piece of paper she provided for the car had the name Nichelle Clint written on it. She told Thompson she didn't know why that name was on the paper. In the time it took Thompson to speak with the passenger, learn he didn't have identification and walk back to Prince, she had her driver's license in hand. Prince was eventually found to have been driving with a suspended license. Thompson called for a tow truck. During an inventory search, Thompson found four bundles of heroin stamped "OBAMA" in the console of the car. Prince and Walker were arrested without incident.
