I'll admit, before, the only thing I really knew of hip hop was the trash I heard on the radio. I hated it all, thinking it was brainless, and just served to keep people concentrated on pussy, drugs, bling and being a thug.
On hoopershroomer's instructions, I downloaded some other stuff by some real artists, and I have to say I'm impressed.
While still not exactly my cup of tea, it's definitely 1000x better than I expected. I can definitely see the artistic value in it, and the messages and meanings in a lot of the tracks I listened to have more meaning than any hip hop I had heard before.
I also see why it doesn't get played on the radio. Its easier to keep people complacent if you make them think life is all about bling, being hard, and getting pussy than bombarding them with messages about improving their situations.
So, I'm making this thread because I made a thread railing against all hip hop and made negative comments in many threads about hip hop in the past, and I owe apologies.
Hooper, I already PMed you an apology but figured I'd offer a public one to you (private apologies only go so far after publicly being a dick to you) and to anyone else I may have offended in the threads on hip hop. I'm sorry for being closed-minded and making racist comments in those threads. You were right and I was wrong. In the future I'll listen more to what is said about things I don't fully understand before rushing to judgments.
Anyway, sorry for being a dick.

all music is beautiful, there's greatness in every genre. Its kinda disappointing that the majority of people listen to whatever the radio and TV tell them to listen to.
