FUNGI AND BEWBIEZ
    #8805471 - 08/21/08 12:21 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

Sorry i lied about the boobs

And sorry about not flipping some images... i uploaded them and didnt notice till after.

met this 50 something year old dude in the woods while looking for mushrooms... he said "hey" i said "whats up?" he said "not much..."  i told him "i found some edible oyster mushrooms the other day and im taking pictures of other mushrooms i find" he had a "WHAAAT!?" look on his face and was like "...youre a mushroom hunter?" i said "yup i just got into hunting edibles this year really" and he said "wow i have never in years of hunting ran into another mushroom hunter" he let me take a picture of his membership card to our local group to remember his name and i gave him my cell phone number..

He said his russian wife really enjoys wood ear soup (i think he called it wood or tree ear) the woods were flooded and he was in dry work clothes... but i had just gotten rained on in the cow field so i offered to pick them for him.

Some gyms

And like ones i found in the past, only the aborted pins show signs of bluing

Pan subbs

I thought these were copes when i saw them

Mycena?

More gyms.

Just wanted to show the noobs that cubes can sometimes appear to be growing directly from the ground... But let me assure you poop used to be there some where.

It started raining hardcore when i was out there

sorry for the blurry pictures the humidity jacked with the clearness of some of the photos. (Yeah thats what we will blame it on )

but anways that cow field i was on looked like it had been picked almost clean... Damn hooligan kids...

Nice pics! They looked like copes to me except that the stems should be white at the top. Some will become beige/brown towards the bottom. Others will have a white stem all the way down. Also the bruising blue is a must as well as you know! Sometimes I will pick them up and wait for the bluing. Then toss the ones that don't bruise. They can be tricky! Good Luck! Happy Dreams!

yup i tossed them when i got back to the car an hour later :/

If you look here the stems were white at the top then they got darker and darker. One of them is more white at the top than others... But they looked like copes to me a whole lot.. i was really excited i kept looked all over for bluing but there was none :frown:

imp those look A LOT like copes to be but i dont see any bluing.  weird.  Nice to see some SE Texas finds.  My area has gotten soaked the past few days with some sun mixed in yesterday, and its raining again.  I might just have to go on a birthday hunt.

They certainly look a bit like copes, but they're so damn big.

You sure they didn't bruise?

What time do you usually go hunting? Just get to your spot before anybody else does, go early most kids wont.

i squeezed them cut them poked them and had them sitting in a bag that was swinging on my body, they were also rattling around with a cell phone because of the rain, after an hour of all that i took them out to look at for one last time but i didnt see any bluing...

You know now that i think of it i shouldnt have thrown the pans out the worst that would have happened is i wouldnt have tripped. (to the noobs no Panaeolus are poisonous)

ill just have to check the fields again in a few days.

when we left i walked up to his car talking to him and he was like "well let me get your number so i can call you on the next foray we have" and he pulled out a 6 inch straight/fixed knife and sharpened a pencil...  I guess he didnt have a cell phone.

The crazy thing is he had a shirt on that said nasa SOMETHING orbital team or something like that...  Im going to ask him of aliens exist if he ever calls me.

You may have just thrown away some copes. The one thing you do not have to worry about is the youngsters are probably going to be looking for cubes which means that you will get all the copes. Let me know about taking up my offer with the PM.
