is your LC jar the same as your grain jars?
    #8801960 - 08/20/08 05:25 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

Reason I'am asking is that I intend to do WBS grain while using LC.

Now do I have to make 2 different types of lids? I plan on using silicone or RTV for the inoculation ports and another small hole for gas exchange with tyvek underneath the lids.

Is this type of lid suitable for PC'ing grain and for LC?

Thanks

I use two types of lids.

Simple lid for WBS spawn:  One 1/4 hole drilled in the lid and stuffed with polyfill.  Tyvek goes under the lid. Hole is for gas exchange and you can inoculate right through the polyfill / tyvek. (These lids are described by Doc in his WBS Tek.)

LC lid: (I use the grain WBS LC described by Agar) Lid has a Whatman syringe filter and a self healing injection port (the cool lid you see all over.)

You could use the groovy LC type lid for your grain spawn .... but, it would be expensive !  The expensive lid is justified for LCs.  Simple, cheap lids that provide for clean gas exchange and clean injection is all you need for spawn jars.

My two cents.
