Return of the cat. . .

So about five months ago I brought my 9 year old cat home to my new apartment from my parents house to keep our little kitty company. The only problem is he was an outdoor cat and hated to be couped up and not outside. So I finally gave in and bought him a collar , an Id tag with his name and my number and a new litter box to accomodate 2 kitties... The second time we let him roam around outside he took off...
This was five months ago and needless to say I thought my cat was dead or had lost his collar and been taken in by someone else. Today I got a call from a Mass area code (which isn't super odd because we just moved to down to Mass and I had applied to a dozen jobs) that I didn't know so I didn't answer it and they left a message. I went to listen to the message later around 8:30 and it was someone I didn't know calling to say they had found my cat playing around with her cats for a few days and was wondering if I was missing him.... I just about shit myself!
After months of him being gone I had given up all hope and then this made my night! I called her back and she was able to get the cat inside so I can drive up two hours to NH and get my kitty back! I never thought I'd be this excited about a pet but its like something you thought was dead is alive again. After all he was my $500 cat (long story) and now I'll have him back!
Houdini (my other cat) will be soooooo pissed when we bring him home!

My cat ran away and we found her living in the woods behind the YMCA hunting squirrels. She was way to feral to bring home at that point.

The cat was only a mile away from our old apartment. The Mass area code was one of those magic jack things that are always on the late night commercials for internet phone service and she had a Mass area code because of that not because she lived in Mass. Either way he was like only a mile away (which is nothing in concord) for 5 months! I use to live in the middle of the woods and driving home on the back roads (all roads were back roads) and would see him miles away but he was still home by 9 every night. The fact that he couldn't make it home from that close and he'd done it before amazes me. Plus the fact that he lived for 5 months alone impresses me (I mean he's 9 years old!) that and the fact that he had his collar and tag still on after all that time.
Anyway UPDATE:
We got up at 7 this morning to drive from Mass to concord NH (nearly 2 hours no traffic) and got my kitty back. He is a little skinnier (healthier not sickly skinny ... he was kind of a fatboy before) but still the same old friendly kitty with a messed up meow. I'm just glad we got him back. The lady was incredibly nice especially since other people must have see him hanging around alot and never called!
