Invitro question

Juan Gutierrez has an invitro setup going. He wants to know if it'd be a good idea to put his 100% colonized jars in the fridge for 12 hours (to cold shock them) before he put them back in the box in his closet to fruit. I think he is also going to remove the vermiculite layer from each jar after he takes them out of the refridgerator. What do you think?

you don't have to cold shock them. Just let them grow Removing the verm layer is a good idea.

Right..He knows that cold shocking isn't a necessity, but will cold shocking them produce better results?

Cold shock won't hurt! Remember you need to subject the jars to light to initiate fruiting
Good luck

In reply to:
Cold shock won't hurt!
Will it help? Thanks.
Also...how does 12 hours sound for the amount of time that the jars should be left in the fridge?

Don't worry so much man. If you feel that you would benefit from a cold shock, try it. Like DM said, it couldn't hurt, so either way, you're not out anything other than maybe a small amount of time. If you need someone to provide you with an answer, then go ahead and cold shock. Feel better?

Well, I'm not worrying..just trying to get a straight answer. I know that it's not a huge deal, and was simply inquiring on behalf of Juan whether or not it would help.
Also, poor Juan doesn't know if 12 hours would be an excessive amount of time to leave those jars in his refridgerator. Or maybe it is not long enough.
I wouldn't say that I "need" someone to provide me with an answer, I would appreciate one. Thanks for yours. I'll tell Juan to go ahead and cold shock. He will do it for 12 hours unless otherwise suggested.

Not many grow invitro and not many cold shock between flushes so that's why you are not getting anyones experience just opinions. I agree with DM it can't hurt.
