nahhh.you need wide mouth jars so that you can get the cake out after it has fully colonized.  most people prefer half pint jars.....not too big (so contams wont be a problm) and not too small(you would be surprised what you can harvest off a half pint cake.

what about when you see people letting the fruits come out of the jar not removing the substrate i have a grow book and that is how they do it, also in workmans gallery he does the same thing. Im not going for yield just a hobby. How does that work, do you let the jar get colonized then open the top once the myc is strong and they fruit out the top cuz thats what it looks like but im probably horribly wrong:lol:

Pints should be ok, as long as they arent the 1qt mason jar looking ones, cause they wouldnt allow for one to remove the cake.
The other jars are fine tho, they have a slight taper and allow the cakes to slide right out.

All I use is pint jars for pftek. Just like everyone is saying get the wide mouth ones. I cant seem to find the slim half pints, just the fat ones that are like a pint cut in half. I do not think that the fat ass ones create cakes with enough surface area so I use the pints for better yield. To me it seems to be a myth that pint jars stall a lot and easily get contams. I probably would not even switch if I did find the slim half pints.
