Yeah, I really don't understand the topic at all. Meditation is about mindfulness of the phenomena which the present moment contains, and about loving-kindness, so its opposite would be mindlessness, a lack of attentiveness to thoughts and physical sensations, reckless action, and hatefulness...? So...what the fuck? If healthy eating worked well for you, why would you go on a McDonalds diet?

I like to meditate, but I also like to go to raves and dance right in front of the speakers grinding against anybody who is amenable to grinding.
I think it's healthy to have a balance.

I don't think the two are contradictory in any way. Meditation is the how, not the particular action or inaction.

the question is not very well configured: as it stands I would have to say that they do; in opposition to a premise that is not well formed, meaning hedonism is part of life. or I would have to say that there is no opposite to meditation except unconsciousness and that would also be a self contracidtory premise.

I am trying to relate unconscious, conscious, and subconscious activities to see what sort of associative linkages they cause me to feel. It's not really doing the opposite I guess.
I find it interesting to compare and contrast mindstates like meditation, lucid dreaming, hypnosis, athletic balance to try and sense a sort of compass of mindstate in myself. Just to see if any ways actually feel more opposite to each other to myself and if so how.

If the antonym for meditate is to act, then I would have to speculate about it. I will not do that. If the purpose of this thread was to initiate reflection, contemplation, or rumination, it worked. If the antonym for meditate is to ignore or dismiss, my answer would not change.
Can you post something about my homies now?

I do suspect the opposite of meditation is action.
And therefore, from my perspective the question posed in this thread is a bit of a trick.
I think people act all the time... they just don't always act with awareness.
If you practice action like you practice meditation... I suspect some good might come out of it.

Definitely! Meditation isn't on-off. It's not, "I'm meditating....Okay, done." Meditation is an end and a means. The sitting is an end in itself, an expression of mind's latent wisdom, and the fruit should be more conscious action.

But if it is possible to act both with or without awareness: would it not be more opposite to meditation to act with less awareness?
And in this case would acting not be opposite to meditation sometimes more than others?
And in this case... how can it be the opposite? Are they opposing spectrum's?
