Triumph Motorcycles

Does anyone here own or ride a triumph? I just got a new job, and I am thinking about picking up a new Speed Triple 1050. The dealer, however, is kinda far. So, I'm trying to inquire as to their general reliability.

Any experience?

I know a guy with a couple of triumphs, he's more than pleased,
never had any issues with it, has taken it in on a cable recall
once and they did some extra services for his inconvenience, he's
had a few jap bikes and even harleys, he says he wouldnt trade the
triumph for a dozen of any of them

have you ever riden before? triumphs are great bikes, a good departure from typical motorcycle design. The speed triple is no exception, great bike to ride. But thats a lot of bike. I ride a 2007 honda cbr600rr and even with a 600 I rarely am able to use anywhere close to the potential of the bike. I have to take it to the track for that. My favorite triumph is the daytona 675, that one almost ended up in my garage. I would look at getting the speed triple 675 instead of the 1050. Its lighter and handles better. Liter bikes are for the most part overkill for the street. That little voice in your head that says "don't be a pussy, i need the big one" is what kills inexperience and experienced riders both. I suggest most people start on an even smaller bike because a 600 is still fast as hell, and it only takes one mistake, to be in a chair for life or worse. keep that in mind and you'll have many miles of happy riding. always wear your helmet
