Depends where you are. If your in a super humid environment like FL you might want to go with a dehydrator or a container with a desiccant. I lived in FL for 30 years and i had a dehydrator because stuff didn't dry well  but when i moved out to the South West here in the desert i found there was no need i just use a fan and a screen.

Your drying method needs to suit your environment.

A dehydrator will be both faster and more efficient, no question about it.  Its worth the investment.

Dehydrator is definitely the fastes and easiest way, but it can be tough with lrger harvests. The good American Harvest dehydrators are pricey and even the expansion trays arent cheap. They also don't fit the larger capped fruits unless you decapitate them or squash the caps.

I've started using a fan to dehydrate them most of the way and then I finish them off with a desiccant chamber. I can't afford enough damp-rid to dry them the whole way (it waterlogs fast with big fruits) but if I get the majority of the water out with a fan, the damp-rid lasts forever.

I live in a really humid area too, so the fan will never work by itself. My dehydrator worked fine, it just didn't keep up with the bigger harvests.
