spore prints

this is a noob question but can you make spore prints with dry caps that you buy off the streets or do you need fresh wet mushrooms i know i have read that fresh ones are the best but will dry mushrooms make good enough spore prints to use

u need a fresh, sterile,barley veil breaking, blue on the touch, mushroom...only the top qual shroom will get printed :tongue:

you can do some re hydrating of the dried mush and do some agar work but do some pf teks and some grain before you start to recreate what you buy off the street.

or if you get a mushie that has black spores on it you can aggar those and use it for a live myc transfer to grains or PF jars. Should work.

you can get good spore prints from a wide open cap in about 3 hours
