In a hurry- g2g with not fully colonized jar?
    #8663692 - 07/21/08 03:33 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

I just figured I'd get some input. I've just cloned a potent fruit; I dropped a bit of the inner flesh of the stem into a PF jar and the mycelium's established itself. It's maybe 1/4 of the way done. I was wondering how bad an idea it would be to take a little bit of the mycelium and use it to colonize a grow bag and a "slave" jar(ie, I'll use that one to colonize other jars)? I realize that a fully colonized substrate is extremely useful in combating contamination, but I'd be doing it in a glovebox which has yet to fail me. Any thoughts? I'd really like to have a flush or two from an isolate before I have to move.

I do that aaallll the time.. that half a jar could probably noc up alot more.. there is nothing wrong with that.. but just make more than 1 extra jar, because the one you right now that you are cloning from may become infected by being exposed to the surrounding air without it being fully colonized.. but, for sure... do it..
