WBS pc'd in spawn bags... some questions though please..
    #8648471 - 07/17/08 08:01 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

I've finally decided to try and use spawn bags for WBS prep because of the ability to do more spawn per pc cycle.

I'm sitting here looking at three bags of seed with the slit taped off using masking tape and I have the flap folded down like I've read to do in the few teks out there saying to do so, but I just feel something isn't right...

Is the patch supposed to be up top facing up?

Won't it get wet or allow moisture in?

How are you guys folding your bags? Either i'm doing it right and I don't feel I am or I'm doing something totally wrong.

Any input would be appreciated, I'd like to get this down but I don't wanna go blowing out bags or ruining the moisture content.

Thanks.

The patch may get wet, but should not let anything in. I've used filter patch bags before and they are good at keeping out contaminants. I usually fold the end over a couple inches and then fold over again a few more times. Nothing to precise. Just enough to make it hard for air to flow in or out. Then I use duct tape or just one of those bind clips (paper clip on steroids).

Imagine you are trying to keep an open bag of potato chips fresh and that should be enough.
