Salvia Divinorum Question: Salvinorin .
    #8623090 - 07/11/08 06:55 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

How many generations/cuttings before the Salvia Divinorum starts to lose vigor or starts to lose it's potency in Salvinorin. I hope that came out right.

I didn't think they did lose potency.  Do they?

I read somewhere that Salvinorin A does best in the summer or something like that. Something about increasing alkaloids. Anyways, I heard they can only be cut for so long until they start losing vigor and dying off quicker, weaker, can't support itself.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that.  But I've only grown sally for 2 or 3 generations.

considering how Salvia reproduces in the wild the Salvinorin content stays high or it would have lost it all many many "millions?" years ago.

Salvinorin A isn't an alkaloid.

Yeah, my mistake. I'll find that out later. How many generations of a plant can it go through before starting to lose its vigor.

I think it just keeps on going. When you start a new clone, you have a fresh plant. That the way salvia divinorum propagates from generation to generation. Its seeds tend to be unviable, so cloning is used in the wild and by humans.

My Mother plant is on Her 4th year...other than the first 8" getting very "woody", She is still growing strong..probably has At Least 30 children, located all over the USA...
I have a cutting from the very first batch I took...now 3 years old...6" woody, but growing strong, as well..
Both my plants produce larger-than-your-hand beautiful leaves, and you can see the crystals of Sal. A on the leaves reflecting in the sulight, if you look close...
I'd post a pic of that, but my camera isn't that good...
Take the time/care, and She will continue to grow...

Peace

Salvia hairs you see on the leaves. I mean is there a way of getting more hairs or potency out of the plant? Or is that just normal of salvia divinorum?

Those aren't hairs, really...
You're speaking of the " Sheeny" appearance on the topside of the leaves?...
I was talking about the tiny, tiny, specks of white visable if you look closely/ in the right light/ proper angle...That's the goods...

Peace
