The Melatonin Effect

So 2 out of the last 3 times I've taken shrooms, I took one melatonin along with the dose, and both of those trips produced richer, more 3D closed-eye visuals that I usually ever get, even though the trip without was a larger dose. I've noticed that melatonin alone will give me more vivid dreams, so I'm inclined to believe the effect is related. Also, the melatonin trips were a little mellower that usual, more relaxing.
Anyone else have any experience with this?

That sounds pretty cool. I would be afraid the melatonin would make me tired and the shrooms wouldn't let me sleep though.

Actually, you can sleep more easily than without. Both times I've fallen asleep while still coming down. The most recent time, I fell asleep while still seeing kaleidoscopes! That is a pleasant way to nod off.

yeah i used to take melatonin and vitamin c just about every time i tripped. i dont so often anymore for two reasons: throwing up an 800% vitamin c pill is fucking terrible, and if fasting before ingesting drugs, vitamin c will fuck up an empty stomach.
as far as melatonin goes one night i took one melatonin pill, i cant remember the dosage but it's stronger then most normal kinds, and i thought it made me feel anxious and unsettled, and i thought this could possibly effect my trips so i stopped. it might help, you never know, but what i have seem to come to realize over the years is that mushrooms or lsd are usually going to take you where they're going to take you, regardless of supplements.

Well, thats why I was wondering if anyone else had tried it and if they noticed any effects. 2 times is hardly definitive evidence, heck trips can vary that much anyway. The reason I tried it to begin with is someone on the shroomery mentioned a possible potentiation effect one time, and melatonin is a tryptamine, so its chemically related to psilocybin/psilosin. Also, like I said, melatonin usually gives me vivid dreams. Plus, the only other time I've been able to fall asleep while coming down from a trip is when I smoked opium to take the edge off an LSD experience.

Melatonin gave me vivid dreams with lots of content, sometimes it went really fast. Staying awake on Melatonin makes you feel a lot better and makes perception a little clearer. Makes sense it would make visuals more "3D" and so on.
PS. Melatonin long-term creates a really shitty depression!!

Melatonin won't cause anything noticable. Its all placebo.
The only thing noticable is your bodyclock should be shifter forward a few hours, so if you take it tonight at 9:30 and sleep at 11pm. Tomorrow, you should be tired and ready for sleep at 11pm.
Its for delayed sleep phase syndrome, shift work disorder and jet lag. Although melatonin is a derivative of tryptamine or whatever it is, it doesn't act like it in the body. Nor can you get high/trip off it.

Mate i work in sleep disorders. It is placebo.
There's study's that have been done, Melatonin doesn't make you drowsy, nor does it help you to fall asleep.
It advances or delays your bodyclock. Thats all.
Edit: Your obviously a believer, so all good, it "works" for you.

^You work in sleep disorders, claim to be well versed in melatonin's effects, yet have to add "or whatever it is" to the end of saying that it is a tryptamine derivative? I can personally attest to melatonin's ability to aid sleep. It practically saved my life during finals week. There was acid. There was a final the next day. Melatonin let me go to sleep at t+8 hours into an acid trip. Got a B in the class.

Well, melatonin is a hormone. Regulated by the Pineal gland and the retina. When you see light, our body reduces melatonin secretion. When it gets dark, our eyes sense this, and naturally increase meletonin secretion.
3mg melatonin is atleast 100x more than naturally produced.
Here, i googled melatonin's actual drug name: Melatonin, or 5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine
So yes its apart of the typtamine family, but behaves nothing like what we refer to tryptamines.

^I was already aware of all that. I just found it distinctly odd that you would be involved in actual studies on melatonin and not know its chemical name and someone who has only used it once would.

Mate its known as melatonin, not as its chemical name, and my memory for spelling it sucks balls.
My opinion has been given, what you do with that, its none of my business.
