Apartments evacuated because of cat urine

Firefighters thought they were headed to a methamphetamine lab.
Usually volatile and full of dangerous chemicals, it's not unusual for the labs to explode, sending debris flying and coating an area with toxins.
More than 35 firefighters went to the scene on Providence Road near Old Providence Road. Roads were blocked. An apartment building was evacuated. TV news crews flocked to the scene.
But instead of meth, officers found untended cats had gone crazy on the carpet.
The urine and other refuse had been there for a few 90-degree days, left by a tenant who was supposed to be evicted Tuesday, officials said.
“When that's left untended, it's going to emit ammonia,” said Charlotte Fire Department Spokesman Capt. Mark Basnight. “That's what everyone smelled.”
So there was no meth lab. But there was one victim. An office worker sent to evict the tenant from the unit at the Heatherwood Apartments was overwhelmed by the odor and taken to an urgent-care center. Authorities said she is expected to be OK.

this reminds me of that article of the lady who was arrested for having cat urine crystals in her purse for her kids science experiment, and she was arrested on meth possession.
i bet the cops were laughing balls when they let her out and gave her the cat urine back.
