    #8562328 - 06/25/08 12:14 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I went hunting yesterday and found about 8 different species.

Found in Western PA
Could you guys help identify these 3 species

Here are 3 of the species I found....

Species 1

Species 2(seems like Gymnopilus aeruginosus) after 1 day still very moist

Species 3 (found growing on aged cow manure)

I got a few more to post up later to identify....

thanks again shroomers,

#1 looks an awful lot like Lactarius volemus, but mushrooms in this genus can be quite tricky to identify. How did it smell? (Some features of your specimen don't fit well with volemus)

#2 Gymnopilus aren't known for having slick/shiny caps.

#3 looks pretty rotten and could be a number of things

You should learn how to make spore prints and also follow the guidelines for ID requests (from the FAQs) as more information is needed for proper IDs

Cool mushrooms.... :crazy2:

1 is surely lactarius, check for a peppery taste and the color of the latex when you damage a fresh one.

Gymnopilus always has a dry cap, that might be Pholiota.
