Christians whining about public prayer being barred in schools

If only these pathetic, hypocritical morons took the time to read their own 'holy' book instead of crying about the non-existent 'atheist agenda'.
Hmmm, what does Jesus Christ, son of God, and the alleged basis of the entire Christian religion have to say on this touchy subject?
Gospel of Matthew chapter 6, verses 5-6,
When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Is His authority and directive inadequate? Seems pretty clear and unequivoval.

We've got the Pope coming to Australia soon. I bet he's going to have some massive prayer orgy.

Why is prayer in schools illegal?
That seems just as ridiculous as prohibition.

*sigh*
Do you honestly believe that US schools should FORCE kids to pray to all of the known 200,000 gods or just the God that you favor?
After answering that, please explain the non-existent link between that and prohibition. Be sure the cite the millions in prison and the lives ruined.
TIA

Here, judging by that absolutely retarded reply that had absolutely nothing to do with my question I'll post my question again:

As I posted in the other thread, praying in schools isn't illegal. But having the teacher lead a class prayer is.

Read the forum rules. It really isn't that hard to do, or to abide by them. No one here wants to listen to you spout this bullshit, hence the rules. Hopefully they ban you.

Take this shit out of this forum. It is against the rules because we don't want it here.

I see a tie to prohibition as a large group of people were barred from an activity they deemed appropriate for no good reason.
No, there is no tie. Prohibition is a violation of a Constitutional right. Public prayer in government school is a violation of the Constitution. Public prayer in government school is a violation of the Constitutional rights of others, whereas using drugs is not impeding upon the rights of anyone. This is why they actually had to amend the Constitution when they wanted to prohibit alcohol - why other substances haven't been held to this standard is another matter. There's nothing in the Constitution about drug usage, but there certainly is something in the Constitution about the separation of church and state. They didn't put that in there for no good reason. "A large group of people" were barred from impeding the rights of others. They don't have the right to do that, no matter how much they felt it was appropriate. A large group of people deem it appropriate to break into other people's homes. It doesn't matter whether or not they feel it is appropriate - they are impeding upon the rights others have to private property, just as others have the right to separation of church and state.
Do you understand now?

How is anyone prohibited from mumbling words to themselves and pretending some powerful being is listening?

Reference one person in prison for such an activity.

So far you don't. Or are you speaking for a majority now? My remark contains the same brand of wit OC used with that derisive *sigh*

Led prayer or free prayer? I agree its a violation if an employee from the school is directing worship.

http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/empdiv.html
The Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment commands that "Congress shall make no law . . . prohibiting the free exercise [of religion]." As the Court recognizes, however, the "free exercise" of religion often, if not invariably, requires the performance of (or abstention from) certain acts. "elief and action cannot be neatly confined in logic-tight compartments." Because the First Amendment does not distinguish between religious belief and religious conduct, conduct motivated by sincere religious belief, like the belief itself, must be at least presumptively protected by the Free Exercise Clause.
The Court today, however, interprets the Clause to permit the government to prohibit, without justification, conduct mandated by an individual's religious beliefs, so long as that prohibition is generally applicable. But a law that prohibits certain conduct -- conduct that happens to be an act of worship for someone -- manifestly does prohibit that person's free exercise of his religion. A person who is barred from engaging in religiously motivated conduct is barred from freely exercising his religion. It is difficult to deny that a law that prohibits religiously motivated conduct, even if the law is generally applicable, does not at least implicate First Amendment concerns.
Interesting.

As telepathy has NEVER been used to convict (or even charge) anyone (in modern times), how could you or anyone else tell if a student is praying if their words are not spoken?
How is this prevented?
Do you also think it is OK to do math in gym class and push-ups in math class or do you agree that there is an appropriate time and place for specific activities?

What did you think of the link provided?
I've already stated I agree with a ban on employee or state led prayer.
You can quote scripture all you like, according to the same book even the devil can do that. I think you're only doing it to anger people.
