So what if this was a type of government that really existed.

Does anyone think it'd work?

I was thinking about this back when I was going through wikipedia's list of philosophical isms; interesting stuff. The question, however, isn't whether it would work, but whether I'd be content to change my way of living.

Yeah, probably.

Boots makes a good point. I think that this attitude is pretty much the main reason shit doesn't change very much.

communal consensus based anarchy? sounds inneficient to me checking back with everyone for everything.. lame. just drop the attempt to appeal to those blinded by democracy and go for the gusto

Anarchy is self imposed government which probably means enclaves of like minded individuals banded into coops. It is supposed to follow from very advanced materialistic civilizations where, as we see now, corporations start to take over. Often, corporations now are governments unto themselves. They have their own private soldiers. Some of them probably classed above our common armed forces. At some point people no longer think in terms of the government really existing. Then they stop paying taxes and that's when the civil war starts.  But in a future where the government has become starved through its own poor economy it becomes a hollow shell and the corporation or coop takes over as government because the government cannot even afford to pay officials. However, things ideally don't dissolve into bomb throwing anarchy, in the previous first world, but expand to real autonomy. We're still in the Dark Ages so it's not likely to function as idealized.
