Basic ID on these mushrooms in South Africa please.

Hi all

If someone could at least tell me the genus of this mushroom? Or perhaps narrow it down to a few species?

Gills: Creamy-white. Close together sheet-like plates.

Stem: Creamy-white. Long, thin, breaks easily.

Cap: Creamy-white. Umbonate to convex. Not smooth.

Spore print: Unknown.

Bruising: Unknown.

Location: Bottom of a pine forest.

These ones were similar. Stem was more moist, colour was also creamy-white, gills were more spaced out, cap was similar except there was a brown patch on the tip.

Thank you.

That is kind of a hard one.  I am not sure which genus it would be in, but it appears to be in the Tricholomataceae family by the look of the gills.

You could probably find the proper genus name for it by using How to ID mushrooms to Genus VI, which I strongly recommend if you are serious about mushrooms.

Alan RockefellerM , I think you are correct!

My ID: Tricholoma saponaceun

The Soapy toadstool

This mushroom is edible but rather unpalatable due to its soapy flavour.

Did some of these mushrooms have  grey-brown or rusty tints?

I am not sure if that is the exact species due to the texture of the cap but it is very close.

Usually Tricholoma has a shorter stem then that, but the rest of the features match and it very well may be a Tricholoma.  By Tricholomataceae I meant that its probably in some other white spored genus that is related to Tricholoma.
