spawn to dung ratio? how many jars

i have a fish tank that is 2ft by 1ft( i think it's a 20 gallon fish tank); i also have a box(lined with 2 trash bags) that is 10 inches by 10 inches. i will be using about 3 inches of dung/straw substrate, i might use some ADVANCED GARDEN 3in1multi-purpose potting mix( bayer corporation) to add volume but only if really needed. anyways, with the 3 inch layer of dung HOW MANY 1/2pt JARS SHOULD I USE FOR EACH CONTAINER the jars will be ready to go w/in 48 hours.

spawn ratio is 10 to 1.

If you add more jars you will get faster colonization.
I'd use 3 half pint jars at least.

btw...I think you have a 10 gallon tank.

sorry but i wasnt paying attention ratio day at school...

so for every cup of colonized birdseed my iguana would use 10 cups of pasturized dung?

so for one of these big jars how many 4" by 8" casings?

Use 2 pints per turkey roaster pan full of compost!
So for the aquarium i'd recommend 2 pints

try it it'll work great if it's a 20 gallon go for 3 pints of spawn.
4 if your pushing it

higher spawn ratio gives a higher chance of success. I use anything from 5% to 20%. depends on how much spawn i have and how lucky i feel.

Damn junkie you are overdoing your spawn ratio.
4 jars even 3 is too much, hell even 2 could be overkill.
Rather save the other 2 jars and use 2 for the bigger container and one for the smaller, leaving you with 1 jar to make yet another tub of poo.
Oh wait ic you`re dealing with half-pint jars?

I recomend a higher ratio of spawn. Faster is better IMO. Besides dont you ever have too many colonized jars!?! I know I used too

A question I've been wondering about for a while is relating selection of container. Do we want a container with the most surface area or the most depth?

This is not a question based on speed of overtaking the medium, this is based on quality and number of fruits. I would imagine the deeper substrate, theoretically would colonise faster, atleast in the sense of colonising the top layer faster.

I woudn?t go over 7 inches deep with the substrate, it tends to heat itself up quite strong during the spawn run.
