eating casing layer
    #8497160 - 06/07/08 07:28 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I just harvest some shrooms, and brushed the casing layer off best i could. Is it ok for me to eat a bit of it? Casing layer was 50/50 peat/verm with a bit of gypsum and hydrated lime.

A ha,sorry man:dielaughing:,I didn't read carefully and I completely misunderstood.I didn't realize that you meant you were going to eat the little bit stuck on the end of the mushrooms and thought you were going to eat the casing layer itself to see if ya trip, you know like how sometimes you see a thread on here where ppl want to eat their cakes and stuff after they are spent:dielaughing:

I usually either wait till my mushrooms are completely dry and than just break off the tips with the casing layers stuck to them,or cut them off as close to the casing as I can at harvest to avoid this .... I wonder just how much mushroom has went to waste this way:strokebeard: just cause im too lazy to actually brush it all off and too much of a snob to eat it or put into a bag of mushrooms and make everything look all dirty :snub:

You're not supposed to brush the casing layer off.  Leave it in place, only patching the divots from picking.  I wouldn't eat the casing layer. The verm will make your poop sparkle.

^I bet some people will try it now just because you said that.  lol.  Who doesn't want their shit to sparkle?  I brush the excess dirt off after they are dry.  it takes hours sometimes.

If you really can't get all that shit off just break the very bottom of the mushroom off.  It's not a big deal.  I do this all the time because I don't want to eat any WBS that might be down there.

It's like the little black end on the bottom of a banana.  The banana-anus the bananus.  The shroomanus, you don't want to eat that shit man.

Just like RR said, :glittershitz:
