datura inoxia
    #8460673 - 05/29/08 05:36 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I happened across a nice little datura inoxia at the hardware store today and have planted it in my garden. Any tips on caring for it?

Daturas are among the most resistent plants I´ve ever grown.
It takes lots of drought and lots of water, just make sure the substrate is well drained. And rich.

That variety is so hardy and self seeds so prolifically that it can become invasive. You might want to pick some of the seed pods to minimize this. Just use care when disposing of said materials... It is a very beautiful plant though. My favorite is the metel variety. It smells like a cross between jasmine and honeysuckle when it blooms. I have a Datura la fleur that came up. I'm excited about it. Good luck, not that you will need much with this one.

It appreciates good rootspace, rich soil, and occasional fertilizing. It seems to transpire quite a bit of water through its leaves when it's hot out so remember to water it in hot weather. A beautiful plant.

I have a pod sitting here next to me that I picked off, I just took a look at it and the inside is blue, kind of like when psilocybin stains mushrooms. Does the alkaloids bruise blue in datura too? It was white inside when i cut it open

Jimsonweed (inoxia) grows in dumps. They are easy to maintain. And they bruise neon pink BTW :crazy2:.

Alright FH! Congrats my friend. You deserve it.
