If it exist you can most likely find it on eBay.

first step...what software version is on your psp?

Depending on that, you may not have to buy anything...but if you need a 'magic memory stic' and a 'pandora's battery' then you either have to know someone with an already modified psp or buy them off of ebay...you can easily make them with a modded psp.

Let me know what software version you have and I should be able to help

peace

What a coincidence, not one week ago I just got my first PSP. The modded ones on eBay are overpriced and frequently eBay cancels the auctions at the last minute (they're against the site's terms) so I ended up loading custom firmware on my own and it was very easy.

If you have access to a PSP Phat with firmware 1.50, you can use the Pandora's Box GUI to easily create a memory stick which will run on the unmodded PSP and 'Pandoraize' the battery. You can also set it back to a normal battery when you're done, so you can use the one that came with your PSP. Note that some third-party batteries cannot be converted if you're thinking of buying a spare to keep as a permanent Pandora.

If you want to buy a Pandora's battery pre-made, the best deal is DealExtreme. They're legitimate but have notoriously slow shipping. If you don't mind waiting that's who I'd recommend. Otherwise hit up Google, there's lots of selection around the $30 mark.

You can easily make your own magic memory stick with these files and any memory stick pro 2 duo. Just scroll down and follow the step-by-step instructions from Da.Milenko. I believe it will fit in 32MB, although 512MB is recommended so you have room to backup your NAND etc. 4GB is said to be the maximum size which will work, I'm not sure if that's still true but double-check if you plan to get a single large memory stick and use it to flash your PSP before storing games.

The best deals on memory sticks are on eBay as long as you don't mind getting counterfeits. Just check the seller's feedback to ensure they offer full speed and capacity, and think of them as generic. 8GB is the sweet spot at the moment, and will allow you to load ~10 games.

The PSP Hacking Guide also has useful information, I'd recommend that you read through the whole thing.

Finally, visit http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=26690 and http://www.pspripkits.com/viewtopic.php?t=12 if you're trying to fit more games on your memory stick. Oh yeah and make sure you have a memory stick reader, or a mini-USB cable so you can hook up your PSP to your computer. (If you have a PS3, the controller cable is mini-USB.)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but let me know if you have any questions. Like I said, I just did this so it's fresh in my mind. Drop me a message when you're all set up and we can get some online multiplayer going.

On the PSP Phat you can downgrade to 1.5 or run a newer custom firmware with the 1.5 kernel addon, but you still need a Pandora's Battery and magic memory stick unless you have exploitable firmware v3.50 or earlier. On the PSP Slim you can't run the 1.5 kernel so there's no real reason to downgrade. Anyway most new homebrew no longer requires 1.5 or else it works with eLoader so it's not as big a deal as it used to be.

If you have a PSP Slim you will need a magic memory stick and Pandora's battery as outlined above in order to install custom firmware. Then hold R and turn on your PSP, and at the recovery menu select 'plugins' and enable 'popsloader'. Once you do that you should be able to put Playstation ISOs in the ISO folder on your memory stick and play them from the Game menu, same as with PSP ISOs.

lol...ver 1.5 psp are useless almost now, almost all firmware is able to be flashed nowadays, except the brand new version 3000 psp's.  Also, Custom Firmwares have beat the shit out of 1.5 for a good long while, it USED to be nice, as that is where i started, until i finally tried a custom firmware, i think mine had 3.90M33 before i got burglarized and it was jacked :frown:

peace

Exactly, every PSP is easily hackable except the 3000's. I picked up a slim about a month ago and without the aid of a modded psp had it running CFW in less then an hour. I happened to have an older battery that was easily turned into a pandora by cutting a link though but all the files you need are downloadable.

My 1.5 got stolen too. I have to say I used it more to hack/mod it than actually play games with it. I only miss Lumines, I am thinking of buying a new one just because that game.  Also I miss turning off the tv at my job when major sport games were on.:(

I play my hacked slim on a constent. My fav site for this type of thing is www.pspslimhacks.com I'm actualy playing FF9 right now but have 30+ games on my harddrive. If you need help with anything just ask. Making a pan bat is easy if you have access to psp with custom already on it otherwise you have to hard mod a battery by taking it apart and pulling the third pin. This ruins the battery but is the cheapest way. I actualy paid $60 for a tool(panbattery) and a jig kick on ebay.
If you have access to a psp with custom on it allready then just download the pandora battery program and fallow the readme.
hope some of this helped and good luck.
