crack cocaine and agnosticism
    #8304736 - 04/19/08 02:52 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I have read an anecdote from a crack user that says the high from crack is about 10,000 times better than the best psychedelic trip you've experienced, and that after trying it you realize that chasing the pleasure, no matter how fucked up it seems on the outside, is a worthy pursuit.

From reading this I sort of got an idea of what agnosticism is. I am not standing on the fence over whether I should start doing crack, just as I am not on whether I should convert to orthodox catholicism. But, without actually trying crack I can't say if this is really something worth trying out. I am not going to, because its sort of an all or nothing deal. If I am missing out on a certain heaven, from what I see I would rather play it safe with what I've got. But hell, the crack user might be right; I could be missing out. Maybe fundamentalist christians are right; they are in direct contact with god and will later unite in heaven. I don't know, but I think I will just remain passive for better or worse.

I'm not sure a crack-addict can be trusted to reliably describe the objective or subjective effects of crack cocaine... nor do I believe crack is 10,000 times more of anything psychedelics offer...

I see your point, though. Comes back to the archetypal wandering vagrant who is in touch with God and as a consequence is insane.

I can tell you from experience, the high of crack cocaine is not a worthy pursuit. The effects are as follows: 1) I want a Newport. 2) I want a cheeseburger. 3) I want more crack cocaine.

He said he was a crackhead, so it must be true.

I know that the high from 'foils' which isn't exactly crack is more like a quad-shot latte than anything psychedelic.

Of course the crackhead is going to think that crack is 10,000x better. He's after the high. Probably always has been, even before the crack.

Who, after taking shrooms, acid, or any other hallucinogen has described it as "getting you high?" If you want to be high, hallucinogens are the wrong tree to be barking up.
