    #8293937 - 04/16/08 10:01 PM (16 years, 3 days ago)

Is this cactus potent? I havent heard much about it. Its really big and buyy it for a 12 inch cutting might be good for one trip. Anyone have any comments about this cactus?

I disagree from all answers above.
If I remember correctly, it´s mescaline contents are about only 5% from the total of alkaloids.
And I have personally bioassayed them, and they sucked supreme.

I guess for making mescaline, its not the best option. This is the one time where size isn't everything. At least that is what I have heard lol.

if you consider macrogonus so bad then why are "icaros","los gentiles","SS01" and "GF's" some of the most recognized strains for potency? all these strains are macrogonoid in nature.

are you in europe? i may agree with you if you are refering to the clone that was originally labeled macrogonus making rounds in europe. this one was tested and confirmed "low".

All of those clones I have seen more commonly referred to as peruvianus. I have yet to see anyone prove what exactly a macrogonus is.

Personally I only have Icaros of those four. I'm not willing to shell out bucks to SS for a few seeds of GF and Gentiles, and I haven't yet to been able to strike up a trade with someone for a cutting. People with the less-common clones only want to trade with people for other less-common clones, kinda hard to get into the game without waiting a few years to grow your stuff out. But what I have seen from other people collections I would say to me those plants are what I would call the definition of T. peruvianus.

If you call those macros then what do you call peruvians?

From what I have read Macro's are suppose to be the same in potency as Panchanoi. I have also heard many of the vendors selling the Peruvian Torch powder actually use the Macrogonus. I can't tell from experience. i am growing several Macro seedlings but It will be a few years before I would be able to test them in any way. I doubt I will.

When I e-mailed BBB about any real Peruvian torch specimens they might have they claimed the only ones in stock were the so called T. Cuzcoensus looking ones they were calling Peruvian torch, They said their T. Macrogonus looks more like the Peruvian Torch I was looking for. Some people do claim that Macrogonus is the real Peruvian Torch. I don't know. Even thoe I'm not collecting for consumption. I'd still much rather have the most potent types. It adds a kind of Magical feeling to the garden.

Yeah, bridgesii even better, but they´re harder to come by.
Even a T. terschekii has more power than a macrogonus.

I've never gotten the dried skins but the  Icaros Peruvianus seeds have done really good. Very High germ rate.
