It takes complete ego loss to understand faith?
    #8292707 - 04/16/08 06:38 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

To just "know" something, someone would have to have no ego. Correct?

I don't follow. I know lots of things and my ego is quite a force to be reckoned with.

I've had a couple "ego loss" experiences with psychedelics, though they didn't leave me "knowing" anything... rather they left me more aware than ever of just how little I know.

No your not getting it. I believe the ego is what instills doubt into ones mind.

Say if one could sit in complete silence for days on in. His mind would be quite silent afterwards. No distraction.

i don't think so. with complete ego loss everything just is, there's no faith.

as in solitary confinement? i think afterwards your mind would be in complete shambles running in every which way unless you were meditating for days on in.

There are plenty of people with faith who have never experienced ego loss.

I used to keep a trip journal that I would scribble thoughts into when riding the waves between egoloss and duality. One of my scribbles reads, "Faith is not something to have. Embody faith."

Your just about on it, Complete faith would be knowledge, since in the definition of faith is believing in something to be truth.

Thus "knowing" something is complete faith without any doubt.

Like you said, with ego loss, everything just is. You just "know" it.

Duuuude youve taken me back to my childhood, seriously that is so frickin awesome!!!

Nice one, you made my day by posting that picture.

On the whole i think it definately takes looking past ego understand why people have faith, instead of just blindly having faith yourself to comfort your ego, out of fear of death. As when you truly look past ego what you believe to be "you" will die, ego will die, then you experience why people have faith. You definately have to look past yourself to realise god.

Most just prefer to have blind faith, but then when they're beloved dies they lose faith, they scream "where is god now!!!?" if they had consciously died and transcended they're ego they're faith would be unshakeable, death would not be an issue.

This is the main problem with christianity, they preach blind faith instead of letting you directly experience god.

"he who seeks himself, finds god,
he who seeks god, finds himself"

If one lost one's ego?
...Who/What then would it be that lost it?

No need to have ego loss.. ..but, it sure helps to ascend it!

Only in 'gnosis.' Gnosis is the Knowledge in which Knower-Known-Knowledge are One. Moreover, it is ONLY about the One, not about any of "the ten thousand things" of multiplicity.
'Episteme' is the dual of knower and knowledge, which requires the egoic mind of separateness.
